The Lead ESS Installation Technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects for our clients, as well as leading and overseeing the work of other installation technicians at the work site. This role requires coordination with project management, field superintendents, and others to understand project roles, interpret drawing packages, and execute system installation including rack buildouts, panel terminations, device IP configuration, testing, and troubleshooting. This technician level performs tasks independently on client sites and coordinates with clients, contractors, and subcontractors. Often serving as the senior field supervisor, this role requires leadership, technical expertise, and strong communication skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience installing access control and surveillance systems in large commercial environments.
  • Experience supervising others and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to train and coach technicians to company standards.
  • Previous experience operating scissor lifts, forklifts, boom lifts, and comparable powered industrial equipment.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and resolve issues for ACS, CCTV, and intercom systems.
  • Experience reading construction drawings and coordinating across multiple trades.
  • Proficiency using Teams, Outlook, OneNote, BlueBeam, Adobe Reader.
  • Knowledge of project documentation including matrices, SRDs, UILs, JHAs, THAs, RHAs, RFIs, and redlines.
  • Ability to maintain schedules and follow DIV28 Specifications for Quality Control (QC)
  • Experience with Genetec, Avigilon, Lenel, AMAG, S2, Honeywell, Software House, Bosch, DMP.
  • Mechanical retrofitting knowledge for door frames and electric hardware.
  • Basic electrical theory knowledge (low-voltage, grounding, polarity, continuity, voltage drop).
  • Ability to access network interfaces for controllers, cameras, intercoms, and switches.
  • Ability to make PC admin-level configuration changes.
  • Clean driving record and background check eligibility.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel as required.

  • Preferred certifications or experience with Lenel OnGuard, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, S2, Honeywell, Software House, Bosch, DMP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee ESS Installation Technicians while performing installation duties.
  • Know and understand the BOM and material requirements for each job.
  • Maintain the project timeline for device installation and head-end work.
  • Communicate timeline risks to the Site Supervisor promptly.
  • Take ownership of job schedules and assigned workload.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Site Supervisor.
  • Identify drawing or matrix issues and escalate quickly.
  • Report missing or defective equipment immediately.
  • Assist with inventory maintenance (including OneNote tracking).
  • Maintain OneNote records including: work accomplished with technicians/trades, project issues, site readiness, inventory updates, and redlines/RFIs if required.
  • Communicate needs for assistance or guidance on technical or labor-related issues. Support technicians with installation questions and troubleshooting.
