The Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting production efficiency. The Lead Technician provides direction to maintenance team members, prioritizes work, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (technical degree or certification preferred)
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Proven leadership or lead experience
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs., on a regular basis and work in a physically demanding environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in steel or heavy manufacturing environments
  • PLC troubleshooting experience
  • Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or related field
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support maintenance technicians in daily activities
  • Assign and prioritize work orders to meet production and maintenance needs
  • Serve as acting point person in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems)
  • Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime
  • Utilize lean manufacturing and maintenance best practices (e.g., TPM, 5S)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance (PM) schedules
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records in CMMS or other systems
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Partner with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment issues
  • Communicate maintenance priorities, downtime, and improvement initiatives
  • Support new equipment installations and process improvements
  • Enforce all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and OSHA standards
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by all team members
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area
