Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Experience: 1 year experience in healthcare facility
  • Required Knowledge and Skills: Must have thorough knowledge of cleaning and floor techniques, all housekeeping equipment and cleaners, and infection control and waste disposal procedures.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the department's Quality Assurance program.
  • Assists with the day to day operation of the assigned area in a manner consistent with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Provides follow up of staff work assignments.
  • Prepares the department schedule.
  • Posts schedule on a timely basis ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
  • Adjusts schedule as necessary for emergencies.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of department budget.
  • Does inventory and orders department supplies as necessary.
  • Maintains an adequate level of supplies to deliver quality patient care and customer service.
  • Effectively performs a variety of housekeeping functions including mopping, dusting, sanitizing, wiping, scrubbing, buffing, and other manual jobs on floors, walls, beds, furniture, fixtures etc.
  • Performs patient/resident room cleaning and discharge cleaning.
  • Operates floor-cleaning machinery to maintain hard flooring and carpets.
  • Collects and disposes of regular and medical wastes at loading dock.
  • Disinfects and sanitizes all counter tops, washers, dryers, and other furniture following established departmental procedures and meeting quality standards.
