This position involves coordinating activities within the clerical section of the Medical Records department. The role requires a strong understanding of patient privacy rights and the ethical use of patient information for the benefit of the patient and the hospital, adhering to state and federal laws and regulations. The Lead Health Info Svc Clerical is responsible for ensuring that all workflows are completed in compliance with regulatory requirements. Key aspects of the role include knowledge of clerical medical record procedures, release of information guidelines, and relevant state and federal laws concerning record keeping. The individual is expected to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to quality and to participate actively as a team leader or member. Essential functions require the ability to speak and read English proficiently. The role also demands familiarity with standard office equipment such as calculators, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as proficiency in personal computer and software skills, including MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, and e-mail. Specific Windows computer skills, such as proficient keyboarding, mouse usage for selecting items, drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, and copying, are required upon employment or within the first two weeks. The position also entails performing other assigned duties, adhering to Palomar Health's rules, policies, procedures, and applicable laws and standards, and upholding the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
