About The Position

Prepares, scans, indexes medical records to ensure that records are available as soon after discharge. Ensures that records are scanned as accurately as possible for accessibility.

Requirements

• High school graduate
• Basic medical terminology desirable
• One (1) year experience in an acute care HIM environment preferred
• Computer skills

Responsibilities

• Runs all discharge reports on a daily basis from the previous day discharges.
• Pick up discharged patient charts.
• Prepares Inpatient, Outpatient Surgery, Outpatient Clinic(s), ER, and loose material for scanning.
• Scans Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, Outpatient Clinic(s), ER, and loose material into the system.
• Indexes Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, Outpatient Clinic, ER, and loose material into correct document type for access.
• Provides on a monthly basis: a. Number of lost charts b. Double numbers
• Place helpdesk ticket when necessary and troubleshoot with support team for any issues with scanning application and/or HPF.
• Inform Management regarding any missing discharged patient charts from previous day.
• Provide a list of scanned PT, Cardiac Rehab and WellWorks accounts upon completion of scanning and indexing into the electronic system.
• Keep scanning machine and workstation clean and organized.
