About The Position

Provide leadership to maintain ground of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, and playgrounds; repair structures and equipment; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by maximizing the opportunities for participants with disabilities and other barriers to become more independent.

Requirements

Ability to follow instructions
Ability to learn mechanical care and operation of small engine machines
Experience operating and maintaining various lawn equipment.
Must have a valid Florida driver's license, valid insurance, and the ability to be insured under the company's vehicle insurance policy for travel to outlying locations.
Frequent travel
Exposure to extreme weather and temperature
Regular pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping and bending
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Prior finish mowing experience preferred

Responsibilities

Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers, trim hedges and edges around walks and flowerbeds, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools, prune shrubs and trees to shape to improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, pick up and burn or cart away leaves, paper or other litter.
Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails and outbuildings.
Assist with the repair of roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment, and may clean comfort stations, offices workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.
Assist supervisor with training and supervising assigned staff; check completed work; provide direction as needed and serve as role model for staff.
Schedule and teach work in steps for employees with a diverse set of skills.
Monitor safety compliance at job sites.
Operate company vehicle to transport employees to work locations when requested.
Ensure actions and words communicate superior internal and external customer service.
Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.
Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups as directed and maintain required level of knowledge pertaining to operating procedures, requirements, processes, and policies.
Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions are followed within area of responsibility, wear required personal protective equipment and clothing, and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
