About The Position

Reports directly to the Automotive Maintenance Section Supervisor. The Laborer/Grounds Maintenance performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. The following tasks are typical of this occupation: The Laborer/Grounds Maintenance loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck; stacks materials for storage or binning, collects refuse and salvageable materials, and digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations, The Laborer/Grounds Maintenance levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake, shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches, cuts tree and brush; operates power lawnmowers, moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliance, moves heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment, spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways, and picks up leaves and trash. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Additionally, walk to storage locations to retrieve parts.
Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and printer.
Occasionally operates a forklift to move parts or equipment too heavy to carry.
Occasionally positions self to load and palletize parts for shipment.
Occasionally bending and stooping to load and secure to a pallet.
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift batteries weighing 80 pounds
Constantly work outside in outdoor conditions.
Exposed to heat and cold.
