About The Position

Total Wine & More is seeking a Lead, Financial Planning & Analysis to join our Finance & Accounting team in our Bethesda, MD office. This role will own several high-visibility, cross-functional financial initiatives and serve as a key partner in supporting executive decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing complex workstreams end-to-end. You will leverage strong analytical and data-driven skills to forecast, analyze, and report on expense activity across Store Operations, Merchandising, & Human Resources. This role collaborates closely with multiple departments, offering broad exposure to the business while applying retail finance expertise. The position reports to the Director, FP&A and provides critical support to the Business Planning and Financial Analysis function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
  • 3-6 years of experience in FP&A, operational finance, or related fields preferred
  • Proven leadership skills in managing cross-functional projects and teams
  • Expertise in forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling) and Power BI
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments and with external partners
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with a problem-solving mindset
  • Experience in the beverage alcohol industry or other regulated industries
  • Background in vendor or importer relationship management

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end financial management of complex, cross-functional finance programs, including regulatory, compensation, benefits, and planning initiatives. Ensure program accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and clear accountability.
  • Lead forecasting, planning, and recast activities across assigned finance programs. Ensure assumptions are aligned, impacts are clearly understood, and changes are communicated effectively.
  • Prepare and review executive-ready analysis, summaries, and reporting to support leadership decision-making. Translate complex financial data into clear insights, risks, and recommendations across owned programs.
  • Partner with cross-functional business and finance stakeholders to coordinate inputs, resolve issues, and manage dependencies across finance programs.
  • Drive process improvements and support audit and compliance activities, enhancing the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of financial workflows.
