About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented FP&A analyst to support financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision making across the organization. This role is responsible for analyzing financial data and delivering insights that drive business performance. The FP&A analyst partners closely with cross functional teams to develop O&M budgets, analyze budget vs actual results, and identify risks and opportunities. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical capabilities, demonstrates executive presence, excels at building effective relationships and translating complex data into actionable recommendations. The Financial Analyst provides value-added financial services to both internal and external customers. The incumbent may assume responsibility for financial activities, including but not limited to reviewing and interpreting the impact of financial reporting proposals promulgated by governing bodies; preparing analytical studies on historical, forecast, and pro-forma financial data; developing comprehensive financial data reports for both internal and external customers; and providing other needed expertise and reporting to accurately reflect and manage financial matters. Requirements

  • Four year degree in business discipline
  • Four years or more experience in finance, accounting, regulatory or a related field
  • Multiple functional experience
  • Knowledge of PC applications
  • Regulatory Finance Acumen - Understand how we make money and how changes to the financial statements flow through and impact customer bills and NI EPS.

Responsibilities

  • Support financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision making across the organization.
  • Analyze financial data and deliver insights that drive business performance.
  • Partner closely with cross functional teams to develop O&M budgets, analyze budget vs actual results, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Review and interpret the impact of financial reporting proposals promulgated by governing bodies.
  • Prepare analytical studies on historical, forecast, and pro-forma financial data.
  • Develop comprehensive financial data reports for both internal and external customers.
  • Provide other needed expertise and reporting to accurately reflect and manage financial matters.
  • Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions; use effective approaches for choosing course of action or developing appropriate solutions; take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
  • Compile, organize and format data, including qualitative analysis required for internal and external reporting.
  • Identify and research reporting issues, provide recommendations, assist with the adoption of new reporting requirements.
  • Recognize situations where the regulatory framework and rate case outcomes drive our business; Support regulatory initiatives by gathering data and preparing regulatory schedules and/or preparing pro-forma calculations, testimony and data requests; Assist with review and analysis of regulatory documents; Appreciate the application of the regulatory construct to our business.
  • Understand terminology and developments. Know when to and can apply technical knowledge to processes, procedures, and tasks.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of financial statements, metrics and measures, and key strategic business initiatives; Understand and utilize economic and industry data as it relates to job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the operating plan and role in the F&A organization; Have a general knowledge of other departments' role in the F&A organization; Collaboratively develop solutions between corporate and business units.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality by documenting work fully and accurately.
  • Take action to identify, analyze and improve existing processes within our organization to maximize opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness and meet new goals and objectives.
