About The Position

As a Lead SCADA Controls Field Technician at Trimark Associates, Inc., you’ll play a critical role in deploying, commissioning, and servicing field-based SCADA and telemetry systems at utility-scale renewable energy facilities. Working with best-in-class metering and control systems, you’ll help integrate Trimark’s SCADA solutions with PV, BESS, and hybrid plant operations to ensure safe, accurate, and compliant energy delivery across the grid. This position will be performed primarily remotely at field locations nationwide but will be centrally based in the Austin, TX area.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline (Bachelor’s preferred); Equivalent military, trade, or vocational experience accepted.
  • At least 5 years of experience in SCADA/PLC/telemetry field service work; 7+ years preferred.
  • Familiarity with SCADA protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, and SNMP.
  • Hands-on experience with RTU/PLC hardware (e.g., SEL-3555, SEL-2240 Axion, Allen-Bradley).
  • Working knowledge of networking hardware (Cisco, Hirschmann), IP addressing, and VLAN configuration.
  • Skilled in use of multimeters, network testers, fiber scopes, and commissioning software.
  • Competency in interpreting electrical and networking schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and maintain Trimark’s SCADA systems including RTUs, PLCs, Network and DAS systems, met stations, RIGs, and I/O panels.
  • Interface with site control systems, including CAISO-compliant telemetry and DERMS integrations.
  • Configure field devices using Trimark-developed software tools and third-party SCADA applications (e.g., Ignition, SEL AcSELerator).
  • Troubleshoot communications systems including Ethernet, cellular, and fiber-based networks.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and QA to validate device configuration, I/O testing, and data integrity.
  • Maintain detailed site documentation: as-builts, IP schemas, cable routing, and startup checklists.
  • Support CAISO telemetry verification, NERC/CIP compliance inspections, and other regulatory activities as required.
  • Ensure full system commissioning meets performance, safety, and cybersecurity standards.
