About The Position

A Lead Facilities Technician is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, coordinating repair activities, and ensuring facility systems remain safe, efficient, and fully operational. This role includes hands-on troubleshooting and repair, preventive maintenance scheduling, and providing technical guidance to maintenance staff. The Lead Facilities Technician acts as the primary point of contact for building maintenance needs and plays a key role in workflow management, safety compliance, and asset reliability.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS)
  • Blueprint/schematic reading & diagnostic skills
  • Preventive maintenance planning
  • Vendor/contractor oversight
  • Safety & compliance awareness
  • 3–7; years of facilities or maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety protocols
  • Ability to lift, climb, operate power tools & work in varied environments

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or lead-tech role preferred
  • Trade certifications in HVAC/EPA, electrical, or mechanical are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and delegate maintenance tasks to technicians, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
  • Perform skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime and extend asset life.
  • Monitor building systems, including fire safety, lighting, power distribution, HVAC controls, and access systems.
  • Maintain accurate service logs, work orders, and asset records through CMMS or maintenance software.
  • Train and mentor maintenance team members to improve skillsets and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, vendors, and outside service professionals.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance needs and facility emergencies, ensuring safe and rapid resolution.
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify safety hazards, performance issues, or required repairs.
  • Assist in budgeting, parts ordering, inventory management, and cost-saving maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, building codes, and company safety standards.
