We are looking for a skilled and motivated Lead Express Mechanic to join our Maintenance Department. This role is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring timely and high-quality maintenance on tractors and trailers, and supporting a team-oriented, safety-first environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of consistent employment or related technical schooling.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proven leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, Windows, and related programs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to stoop, bend, and crawl under equipment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no company sponsorship available).
  • Relocation assistance is not provided.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA, TIA, OE, or other safety/mechanical certifications are a plus , but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule daily workload to optimize shop productivity.
  • Monitor and minimize equipment downtime through effective maintenance scheduling.
  • Inspect tractors and trailers to identify and prioritize necessary repairs.
  • Accurately document repair details and input information into computer systems.
  • Communicate effectively with the shop team, drivers, and service providers.
  • Follow and enforce the company’s tire program for all equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with TIA , OSHA , and all company safety regulations.
  • Provide prompt, professional support to drivers while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Lead by example—educate, motivate, and support team members in a professional manner.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and share best practices with management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
