Lead Engineer Role Summary The Lead Engineer provides hands-on technical leadership and day-to-day oversight of building operations and engineering activities. This role serves as the primary technical resource on shift, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building systems while coordinating work activities and supporting engineering staff. The Lead Engineer works closely with The Engineering Manager & Assistant Chiefs to maintain operational standards, support preventative maintenance programs, and respond to operational issues.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial building operations or facilities engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems and equipment
  • Proven ability to lead work activities and support a team environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CMMS and building automation systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site technical lead, providing guidance and direction to engineering staff
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
  • Coordinate daily work activities and prioritize tasks to support operational needs
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and identify system risks or improvement opportunities
  • Oversee and support vendor and contractor activities during scheduled and corrective work
  • Respond to operational issues and emergencies, escalating as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, site policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and work records in applicable systems
  • Support training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team
