About The Position

The Lead Engineer is a non-union leadership role responsible for the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of all building systems, with a strong commitment to achieving 100% uptime and delivering excellent service to clients. This position leads the engineering and maintenance team, proactively manages the building and grounds, and ensures regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and the long-term protection of the client’s assets. A strong focus on effective daily communication and timely follow-up, and professional interaction with clients, vendors, and staff is critical to success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical education; or 5–7 years of related experience.
  • Universal CFC Certification; active Refrigeration Technician license preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems and equipment, including HVAC and BMS management systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a strong sense of accountability and follow-through. Excellent management of email response and follow up timeliness.
  • Excellent level of use of technologies like AI and other tech to help assist in the management of this roles responsibilities.
  • High level of observation skills and critical thinking for all situations, thinking ahead of various key actions to take in any and all situations, especially during and urgent/emergency matter and the ability to follow through in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Building Operations & Maintenance: Oversee daily operations and preventive maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Ensure systems always operate safely and efficiently. The ability to inspect systems to find issues with equipment before there is a problem. Monitor logs and reports to identify trends and resolve issues proactively.
  • Communication & Follow-up: Maintain clear, proactive communication with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Ensure timely follow-up on work requests, safety issues, and project updates. Facilitate smooth collaboration with contractors and tenants while ensuring adherence to building protocols.
  • Preventive & Reliability Maintenance: Drive a proactive, reliability-based maintenance approach. Develop QA/QC processes, implement best practices to reduce corrective repairs, and lead infrastructure and equipment assessments. Ensure all grounds of the campus are inspected daily, interior and exterior of the property to include envelope, building glass and structure, landscaping, irrigation, parking lot, lighting, roof, etc. Detailed interior inspection of entire infrastructure, floors and tenant spaces. Report daily maintenance, providing and executing timely repairs.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Maintain all documentation to support compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Lead safety training programs and identify and resolve safety hazards within the building.
  • Procurement & Inventory Management: Manage inventory of tools and materials, coordinate purchasing, and monitor vendor performance. Ensure resources are readily available to maintain building operations.
  • Emergency Response & On-Call Support: Respond promptly to emergency situations, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and support the facility team during off-hours when needed.
