As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for a Lead Engineer - Instrumentation & Controls to join our Process Engineering Team for our Atlas Point site. This role will function as the lead support for the batch production process controls systems at the facility and in the development and execution of a long-term strategy for PLC upgrade and replacement.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within high hazard and PSM regulated chemical manufacturing or related industries - at least 3 years of experience in a role directly involved with process controls
  • Strong proficiency in DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems, including DeltaV, Rockwell, AspenTech IP21
  • In-depth experience with Functional Safety/Safety Instrumented Systems strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including concise communication and a strong safety influence
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple processes simultaneously
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process control systems and programming
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering) to optimize process performance and improve process control systems
  • Develop/maintain functional safety documentation for SRS, SIL verification and proof testing
  • Specify and select appropriate instrumentation for various projects, ensuring compatibility and compliance with industry standards
  • Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including P&IDs, control logic diagrams, and standard operating procedures
  • Manage the replacement strategy and upgrade of PLC-based process control systems
  • Develop and review Process Design packages for capital projects
  • Plan and organize multiple projects in cooperation with project managers, ranging from short-term to over 12 months in length
  • Ensure SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) performance meets site requirements
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced staff
