About The Position

This position involves guiding shop employees in daily work assignments. The specialist will operate and maintain specialized classroom systems, water boost systems, sewage lift systems, motor drives, and various other critical building electronic/electrical systems. Key tasks include using specialized electrical meters and equipment such as Dranetz power meters, infrared cameras, and recording meters to gather and record building voltages and power usage, then formulating this information into reports for campus departments and outside vendors. The role also requires writing preventive maintenance programs for new building electrical systems and equipment, and updating obsolete electronic/electrical systems through communication with manufacturers and vendors. The specialist will utilize laptop computers for system diagnostic interrogations, troubleshooting, and programming to extract system histories and generate sensitivity reports. Additionally, the position involves maintaining documentation on facilities systems for Health Care facilities and presenting it to the Joint Commission and UNC Hospitals upon request. A sign-on bonus of $4,919 is available, paid in two installments: $2,459.50 within 30 days of hire and $2,459.50 12 months after hire.

  • Requires a valid NC Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
