About The Position

At Tempel, a Worthington Steel company, the Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician is crucial for maintaining the uptime of stamping and annealing operations. Approximately 90% of the work focuses on controls and electrical systems, with a specialized emphasis on Allen Bradley PLC-5 troubleshooting. This role is vital for ensuring production continuity through fast and accurate electrical diagnosis, reinforcing safety and quality through command of high-voltage systems and controls logic, and driving improvements across motors, drives, and power distribution. The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex electrical puzzles.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
  • Hands-on strength in Allen Bradley PLC-5 troubleshooting
  • Comfort reading ladder diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Background in drives, motor controls, and factory automation
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing environments
  • 5 years of experience with Programmable logic controllers

Nice To Haves

  • Rockwell legacy experience
  • Hydraulics/pneumatics exposure
  • Journeyman certification

Responsibilities

  • Read ladder logic and electrical prints to analyze and resolve faults
  • Troubleshoot 480V motor control circuits, industrial drives, and distribution gear
  • Track down machine fault codes and coordinate corrective actions
  • Test components for continuity, voltage, and resistance to validate repairs
