About The Position

Our mission at Skyryse is nothing less than a new era in flight, where fatalities are nearly zero, piloting any aircraft is simple and safe, and the sky is accessible to all. SkyOS, our industry-first universal operating system for flight, provides any airplane or helicopter with a fly-by-wire flight management solution that significantly reduces the complexity of flying. Skyryse One, our first production aircraft powered by SkyOS, was unveiled in 2024 and features the simplest, safest, and most intuitive flight controls in general aviation. We are looking for a lead Display Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the architecture and development of advanced display systems for aviation and aerospace applications. This role involves developing solutions across multiple aircraft platforms, optimizing graphics performance, ensuring system reliability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class visual solutions for mission-critical environments. This is a full-time onsite opportunity based out of El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred).
10+ years of professional experience in display software development or related fields.
Strong programming skills with proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
Experience in concurrent programming and multithreaded systems.
Deep understanding of 3D graphics principles and experience with OpenGL and Vulkan.
Proven experience with GPU programming using CUDA or OpenCL.
Development experience with Linux Operating System.
Practical experience with embedded hardware and debugging serial interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, I²C).
Industry experience developing display software for aviation or aerospace applications.

Nice To Haves

Experience with real-time systems and low-latency display rendering.
Familiarity with color management, HDR, and image processing.
Knowledge of display protocols such as MIPI DSI, DisplayPort, or HDMI.
Exposure to safety-critical software development standards (e.g., DO-178C, ARINC-661).
Experience with Anysys SCADE, GL Studio or equivalent

Responsibilities

Architect a display software solution that integrates user applications and graphics rendering for interactive displays
Design, develop, and maintain display software for aviation/aerospace systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Implement and optimize rendering pipelines, graphics effects, and display drivers to maximize performance and efficiency on both CPU and GPU.
Develop and integrate 3D graphics solutions using OpenGL, Vulkan, and related APIs.
Utilize GPU programming frameworks such as CUDA or OpenCL for performance-critical applications.
Work on concurrent and parallel programming to achieve real-time performance requirements.
Debug and optimize display systems at both application and driver levels, ensuring seamless operation in embedded environments.
Collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new display hardware, troubleshoot issues, and integrate solutions for embedded platforms.
Work on Linux-based development environments and contribute to system-level integration and debugging.
Interface with cross-functional teams including graphics, hardware, and avionics specialists to deliver integrated display solutions.
