About The Position

The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Lead Director of Gift Planning. The Gift Planning team within the division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement supports the development officers and donors' efforts to create new planned gifts. This position will report to the Managing Senior Director of Gift Planning.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and six years of related experience in fundraising, estate or financial planning.

  • Successful candidates will possess experience working with bequests, trusts, taxes, and planned giving with a strong working knowledge of tax, trust, and other laws affecting charitable planning.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as effective presentation skills.
  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
  • Juris Doctor and/or financial certification preferred.
  • Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of planned giving donors.
  • Provides gift planning guidance and technical support to major and principal gifts staff.
  • Works collaboratively with school and unit advancement teams to increase planned gifts.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Meet department metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.
