Zantech is looking for a talented Lead Data Governance Architect to contribute to the success of our upcoming Program Management Support project for an Onsite role based out of the Washington DC Metro Area/Pentagon. The Lead Data Governance Architect will play a crucial role in providing: Data Governance Framework Development Data Architecture and Integration Design Data Sharing Agreements and Policy Development Metadata Management and Data Lineage PII/PHI Compliance and Data Security The Lead Data Governance Architect is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that enable secure and compliant data sharing across platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise in data architecture with policy development and stakeholder engagement to establish enterprise-wide data standards, metadata management, and data quality frameworks. This role directly establishes the governance foundation that enables 40+ DoD organizations to share and trust data for mission-critical decisions, directly supporting warfighter readiness and DoD business operations.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in data architecture and data governance, with 8+ years in DoD/federal environments
  • Expert knowledge of data governance frameworks (DAMA DMBOK, DCAM, DGI)
  • Extensive experience developing Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) and Data Usage Agreements (DUAs)
  • Deep understanding of data architecture patterns (data mesh, data fabric, data lakes)
  • Experience with Advana platform architecture and Databricks
  • Multi-domain data integration (NIPR/SIPR/JWICS)
  • PII/PHI identification, classification, and protection protocols
  • API design and data integration standards
  • Metadata management and data cataloging tools
  • Cross-classification level data sharing protocols
  • Experience with DoD data policy and regulations
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret or higher clearance, per contract requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • DAMA CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or equivalent data governance certification
  • Strong written communication skills for policy and technical documentation
  • Experience facilitating cross-organizational working groups

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with Advana data integration (GFEBS, DLA, or other major DoD systems) highly valued
  • Experience implementing real-time data integration (SAP SLT, AWS PrivateLink, etc.) preferred
  • Familiarity with Open DAGIR principles and CDAO data strategy
  • TOGAF or DoDAF certification
  • AWS Solutions Architect or Data Analytics certification
  • CISSP or equivalent security certification
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
  • Master's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Graduate coursework in data governance, information management, or enterprise architecture

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise data governance framework for Advana platform
  • Develop comprehensive data policies, standards, and procedures for cross-organization data sharing
  • Create and maintain Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) and Data Usage Agreements (DUAs)
  • Establish metadata management standards and data cataloging approaches
  • Design data lineage and data quality frameworks
  • Coordinate with Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Legal teams on compliance requirements
  • Develop PII/PHI identification and protection protocols
  • Create API standards and data integration patterns for federated data access
  • Facilitate data governance board meetings and stakeholder working groups
  • Provide technical guidance on cross-classification level data sharing
  • Conduct data architecture assessments and provide recommendations
  • Mentor data governance team members and build organizational capability
