About The Position

The Pillars of Mankato provides independent living, assisted living, and memory care apartments for seniors in a specially designed community. We incorporate the seven components of wellness (emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual, social, environmental, and occupational) into our 118 units that make up The Pillars. Located in Mankato, MN near US 14 and 169's crossroads, our community has a bus that residents can ride for our outings. The Lead Culinary Assistant is responsible for dining room meal service to residents. The schedule includes; 72 hours every two weeks ; Full Time 11:00am-7:30pm Shift Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting:
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Helps lead shift huddles for each meal.
  • Outlines and delegates daily cleaning and production tasks for the Culinary Assistants as needed.
  • Creates dining room cleaning schedules and procedures and ensures their completion.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
  • Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction:
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates tenant/resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Culinary Director as appropriate.
  • Provides support and direction to Culinary Assistants:
  • Oversees proper procedures for dining room set-up for daily meals and special events.
  • Checks the daily task sheets for completion. Refers any incomplete tasks to the Chef/Culinary Director.
  • Schedules Culinary Assistants
  • Identify Culinary Assistant performance issues and communicates them to Culinary Director
  • Trains new staff on proper procedures.
  • Assists in completing the onboarding and orientation checklists for newly hired Culinary Assistants.
  • Listens to complaints and respond appropriately. Refers issues to Culinary Director and Executive Director as appropriate.
