About The Position

Responsible for coordinating daily workflow in the Central Services (CS) Department or specific area(s) as assigned. Works with the EMRMC CS Manager in developing and maintaining an inventory control system for supplies requisitioned and consumed within the OR, CS and EMH Specialty Clinics. Coordinates the decontamination process and reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical equipment. The lead tech will be competent in all areas of CS and will work in each area based on volumes and staffing needs. Maintains open communication with CS Manager, other departments and clinics regarding instrument repairs and supply shortages. Flexes to EMH facilities as needed. Exhibits the values of F.I.R.S.T. (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).   WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works varied shifts.  May be exposed to infectious diseases that require the following of established protocols and precautionary measures.  It is required to wear protective clothing such as gowns, gloves, surgical masks, face shields, and/or goggles.  Subject to burns and cuts.  Frequent prolonged standing and walking.  Visual acuity required to perform various supply and inspection functions. Exposure to a high degree of interruption, time restraints and deadlines.  Must be able to move or position 25 lb. independently. Will include call when other associates call in or staffing is critical.   CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Primarily Central Service and Surgery personnel.   EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: All operating room and Central Service equipment.

Requirements

  • CS experience required
  • Candidate should have excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in the operating room or Central Service preferred.
  • Previous experience in inventory management and a working knowledge of computers preferred.
