About The Position

The Lead Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the credentialing and privileging processes for all medical staff within the organization. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating effective communication between medical staff and relevant departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in healthcare provider credentialing, privileging, or medical staff services.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations related to medical staff credentialing and privileging.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in credentialing software and other relevant applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the credentialing process for all medical staff, including Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, MDs/DOs, Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, and Pharmacy Technicians, ensuring timely completion and accuracy of all required documentation
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of credentialing checklists, including licenses, certifications, education, work history, and references for all medical staff members.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and providers to obtain and maintain required documentation throughout the credentialing lifecycle. Collaborate with medical leadership and committees to establish and maintain provider privileges based on qualifications and competencies.
  • Develop and manage processes for monitoring provider privilege expirations, communicating upcoming expirations, and initiating reappointment processes in accordance with organizational policies
  • Maintain a comprehensive, accurate, and secure database of medical staff credentials, privileging information, and related documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for medical staff during the credentialing process, addressing inquiries and providing support as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and actively participate in the implementation of streamlined practices.
  • Conduct training sessions for medical staff and relevant personnel on credentialing processes, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Client Services team, practice leadership, and other departments to ensure smooth credentialing processes.
  • Communicate professionally and constructively with medical staff and internal stakeholders throughout the credentialing lifecycle.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards, safety protocols, and facility requirements related to the medical staff credentialing process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
