About The Position

Supervise and coordinate the department's responses to all subpoenas, court orders, and requests for Public Defender files. Respond to subpoenas, court orders, and requests, such as (1) issued to the Cook County Public Defender (CCPD) for its files and records, including Electronically Stored Information (ESI): (2) issued to employees for deposition or trial testimony relating to client representation, and (3) issued in civil actions to Public Defender clients. Answer all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for CCPD records in accordance with the Illinois FOIA.
This position is Actively Recruited and At Will.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate (JD) and
• Five (5) years of criminal defense, civil litigation or directly related experience is required.
• Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience is required.
• License to practice law in the state of Illinois is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain license and/or certification requirements is required.
• Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States’ territories and Canada must be credentialed by an approved U.S. credential evaluation service belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE). Original credentialing documents must be presented at time of interview.
