About The Position

This role is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of daily/weekly/monthly corporate accounting journal entries posted into the Great Plains (GP) general ledger accounting system. This position is responsible for the preparation of most of the month-end closing journal entries and assists the manager in performing monthly and quarterly variance analysis on the Financial Statements, monthly general ledger and reconciliations, including, but not limited to, bank reconciliations. The position will also assist in preparing audit schedules as requested by third-party and internal auditors. In addition, this position will assist fellow Accounting associates in researching and reconciling various accounts, contribute to department initiatives focused on creating strategic efficiencies affecting all AutoNation Finance (ANF) departments. This position reports to the Senior Director of Accounting. This individual will primarily interact with the CFO, Accounting team, other internal departments within ANF and AutoNation external vendors, external auditors, and banks for which ANF maintains a relationship. The successful candidate is self-directed in work prioritization and demonstrates superior judgment-making ability within the scope of the position’s areas of responsibility. The associate will be able to solve problems, and suggest solutions in accordance with their area of responsibility. This position requires working onsite - full-time schedule.

  • 4-year College Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 5-8 years of related Accounting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Great Plains experience a plus.
  • Previous experience in (auto) finance a strong plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Performing general ledger account and bank reconciliations.
  • Preparing Financial Reports/Schedules.
  • Preparing daily/monthly schedules for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
  • Preparing audit schedules as needed.
  • Assisting other Accounting staff as needed.
  • Possible coverage of other functions within the Accounting Department.
  • Assisting with team training and development.
  • Preparing standard operating procedures and other training materials.
