About The Position

Overview The Corporate Financial Reporting team is entrusted with preparing and reporting the financial activity of Chick-fil-A, Inc. and its subsidiaries on a monthly and annual basis, according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and local statutory requirements, for internal and external requirements. The Lead Accountant position is a professional role that is responsible for the preparation, reconciliation and reporting of various financial statement information related to our International subsidiaries. This role will partner with various teams across the business to ensure new initiatives and projects are accounted for according to U.S. GAAP and local statutory requirements. This role will lead the preparation of workpapers and documentation needed for the completion of annual financial statement audits. This role will possess a comprehensive understanding of GAAP, international reporting standards, and Chick-fil-A's accounting policies and practices. This role requires building relationships with key personnel both within and outside Financial Services to support the accounting of complex initiatives. The Corporate Financial Reporting team is looking for a natural problem-solver who is independent, coachable, detail-oriented, and continually seeking process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close activities for international financial statements (excluding PP&E) including account reconciliations and working with subledger owners to ensure appropriate accounting according to US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
  • Perform account reconciliations on various general ledger accounts and use problem solving skills to research and remediate any reconciling differences.
  • Perform monthly account analysis, research variances, and communicate insights with leadership.
  • Collaborate with other key international focused Financial Service professionals to create scalable accounting practices and reporting to support continued international expansion.
  • Evaluate current processes and procedures and recommend changes.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects, tasks and analysis to help support decisions, resolve issues or support various business needs.
  • Participate in annual financial statement audits by preparing requested workpapers/schedules.
  • Partner with CFR accounting policy owners to create and maintain various accounting policies.
  • Develop relationships across the business to provide financial perspective.
