About The Position

The Sr. Accountant, Financial Reporting is responsible for supporting the company’s external reporting processes, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. This role plays a key part in the preparation of quarterly and annual filings, technical accounting research, and the maintenance of strong internal controls within a publicly traded environment. This role is onsite at our San Antonio Corporate office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred), with exposure to publicly traded clients.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience supporting SEC reporting requirements, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Hands-on experience with stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718 and familiarity with earnings per share (EPS) calculations preferred.
  • Experience preparing audit-ready workpapers and supporting quarterly reviews and annual external audits.
  • Understanding of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance experience preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and apply technical accounting guidance to complex transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record complex journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the month-end and quarter-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Lead consolidation activities, including intercompany eliminations and preparation of supporting schedules that flow directly into Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and other external financial reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare key components of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including financial statements, footnotes, equity rollforwards, and supporting disclosures; ensure consistency between internal reporting packages, earnings materials, and external filings.
  • Perform hands-on stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718, including valuation report review, expense recognition, forfeiture tracking, EPS impact analysis, and preparation of related SEC disclosures within a publicly traded company environment.
  • Prepare audit-ready schedules and technical accounting documentation to support quarterly reviews and annual audits; research and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to new transactions and assist with implementation of new accounting standards while maintaining SOX compliance.
