About The Position

We are hiring a full-time Lead Cook to provide healthy, homemade meals for Franciscan sisters at our Chicago convent home/eldercare facility, located on the north side, near the neighborhoods of Lincolnwood and North Park (60659). General Summary: The Lead Cook works closely with the Dining Supervisor to ensure that the daily operations are functioning at an optimal level within an elder care environment in a convent home. This position is responsible for cooking and providing healthy, nutritious, and attractive meals for residents in a safe working environment. During Dining Supervisor vacations or extended absences, this position will serve in place of the Dining Supervisor. This position assists management with the ordering of food and supplies, inventory, supporting compliance for food safety inspections, contributing to menu planning, and exercising independent judgment. Verifies invoices for the purchasing of food, supplies, and equipment, and submits invoices to management. Assists the Dining Supervisor with the training of new staff. Requirements

Minimum of two (2) years of of experience in an institutional food service environment
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Experience with therapeutic diets, menu execution, inventory support, and kitchen operations in a regulated environment

Nice To Haves

Experience in an Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, hospital, or other healthcare environment is strongly preferred
Leadership and staff support experience preferred
SERV Safe certification preferred or must obtain within 30 days of hire
