Supervises operation of plant, under general direction. Supervises, instructs, and assigns specific duties to shift workers. Reviews and evaluates work performance. Inspects plant equipment and processes regularly. Determines site and causes of any malfunctions. Maintains and evaluates operating records.

Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to communicate and document daily activities to ensure proper plant operation.
  • Must be able to run lab tests and interpret results and equipment malfunction.
  • Five years of experience in water treatment. (Credit given for college courses.)
  • Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (or predecessor agency) Class B Water Operator's Certificate of Competency required.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors Control Room SCADA System. Makes adjustments to pumping levels as required.
  • Monitors plant operations by observation, instrumentation and laboratory test results and makes process adjustments to predetermined parameters.
  • Operates base station for radio transmissions.
  • Takes samples at various operating points in the plant process and interprets data.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in assigned units.
  • Monitors condition of mechanical equipment and notifies appropriate personnel of needed repairs or any operational problems.
  • Observes all safety guidelines as initiated by the NTMWD.
  • Responsible for the safe handling and unloading of various chemicals.
  • May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations as directed by supervisor.
  • Required to maintain thorough written process logs and records.
  • Runs various lab tests.
