Interested in building one of the largest Kubernetes deployments in the industry supporting Edge Computing use cases including Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence in our 2,600+ North American restaurants? We are looking for an experienced, passionate, distributed systems software engineer who enjoys solving a wide range of cross-cutting technology challenges and building platforms that can sustain tremendous growth from our business. In this role you’ll serve as a leader, problem solver, mentor, and expert software engineer. We need you to apply the technical experience you have gained to the design, development, and delivery of a highly engineered and edge capable container management platform to run our critical APIs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Good interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with DevOps engineering best practices, including version control using GitHub and CI/CD
  • Understanding of container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and GitOps in a production environment
  • Experience with full stack development
  • Experience deploying and managing web services/APIs
  • Web, API and Event-based development experience
  • Proficiency in GoLang, Python, or Java programming languages
  • Proficiency navigating Linux
  • Knowledge and understanding of standard office suite solutions: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to influence teams and software engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group such as software engineers and business users
  • Knowledge and understanding of change management processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead troubleshooting efforts, as necessary
  • Ability to review and analyze system performance and capacity reports for remediation purposes

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or similar field of study
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience managing container platforms at Internet/Customer scale
  • Experience with ArgoCD
  • Deep understanding of AWS architecture
  • Hands on experience managing Kubernetes AKS, EKS, K3S, and/or GKE
  • Experience building and maintaining platform automation capabilities around Kubernetes
  • Experience with GitHub Actions
  • Experience designing and implementing high-availability application architectures
  • Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical knowledge and leadership for Engineering Leads in technologies like AWS, Kubernetes, edge computing, security, and microservices
  • Build software delivery capabilities that will allow continuous delivery with low friction and low risk
  • Define and build solutions that are aligned with enterprise architecture principles
  • Collaborate heavily with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Site Reliability Engineering, and Engineering Leads
  • Collaborate with and oversee managed services providers responsible for various aspects of delivering the edge container management platform ecosystem
  • Identify & propose emerging software engineering technologies, methodologies and/or approaches that will address gaps in our container management platform ecosystem
  • Lead adoption of those technologies across all internal software engineering teams as they onboard to and operate on the container management platform
  • Optimize our systems for security, performance, and cost
  • Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is shared amongst the team members to cover weekends and weeknights. The goal is to design for failure and, using cloud-native infrastructure patterns, automate responses to possible issues so they can be worked during normal hours.
