The Wesleyan University Health Services department includes the Davison Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and WesWell (Health Education.). The Davison Health Center provides a wide range of clinical services focused on the treatment of illnesses and injuries, as well as wellness and disease prevention. The Health Center provides medical care to approximately 50+ students a day with an average of 6,500 visits in an academic year. Services are available six days per week while classes are in session. Reporting to the Medical Director of the Davison Health Center the Lead Clinician provides clinical leadership for medical services and clinical staff at the Davison Health Center. This is a full time year round position. The Lead Clinician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of the Davison Health Center ensuring high-quality, student-centered medical care and provides administrative and clinical supervision to a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses and medical assistants. Working in close partnership with the Medical Director, the Lead Clinician supports the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with all applicable state and federal regulatory standards. Responsibilities include: Clinical Care and Oversight Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic conditions. Serve as a primary point of contact for clinical concerns, workflow issues and real-time decision making in support of safe and effective care delivery. Ensure adherence to evidence-base clinical guidelines and best practices in college health. Leadership, Supervision and Team Development Provide administrative and clinical supervision to clinical staff, including ongoing coaching, performance support and annual performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and inclusive student-focused clinical environment. Provide mentorship, clinical updates and training for all clinical staff. Lead efforts to strengthen staff competencies through education, training and professional development opportunities. Provide case consultations and clinical skill enhancement support as needed. On-boarding, training and systems support Develop and oversee a structured on-boarding plan and training curriculum for new medical staff. Serve as a Super User for the Medicat Electronic Health Record system. Clinical Operations, Quality and Compliance Collaborate with the Medical Director to develop, update, and implement clinical policies, protocols and procedures. Monitor clinical documentation, prescribing practices, lab processes, laboratory workflows and infection control to meet quality and safety standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, chart audits and inspection activities. Collaboration and Campus Partnership Partner with campus departments as needed (CAPS, WesWell, etc.) to support holistic student health. Represent the health center on campus committees or task forces and working groups as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. This position is required to work on campus.
