As a member of the treatment team(s) of the program, is responsible for providing a broad range of treatment and case management functions for the population served. Provides clinical program coordination.

Requirements

  • Must possess one of the following licenses as required by state board where services will be provided: Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) OR Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) OR Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) issued by the WV Board of Social Work Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) OR Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) through the West Virginia Board of Counseling Psychologist OR Supervised Psychologist through the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Psychology
  • State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Possesses the interpersonal skills to positively and effectively communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
  • Uses competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to efficiently deliver patient care with all health care providers while maximizing efficient use of resources.
  • Ability to be flexible in response to changes in work volume, staff and scheduling changes.
  • Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to work in variety of settings and possibly noisy environments.
  • Work with difficult or challenging clients of various ages and demographics.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses competency of clinical staff through observation and testing techniques.
  • Assists clinical staff in developing required competencies.
  • Gives input to Manager on performance management reviews of the unit staff.
  • Participates as clinical personnel on a treatment program and facilitates therapeutic milieu on the unit.
  • Assess patient needs, including assessing for high-risk indicators and documents history/assessment in a manner that is clinically pertinent to the individual patient.
  • Participates as an integral professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team led by a psychiatrist.
  • Provides direct clinical assessment and intervention services to individuals, groups and families.
  • Performs continued care planning as developed with the treatment team from day of admission as needed.
  • Participates in treatment planning sessions and assists treatment team by coordinating planning effort.
  • Acts as liaison for program patients and their families to various community agencies, hospital consultants and services.
  • Records and charts patient contacts as required by hospital policy.
  • Markets Hospital services to appropriate referral sources.
  • Assists in quality reviews of program as assigned by the manager.
  • Assists in maintaining regulatory compliance of the program.
  • Maintains appropriate certification, licensure and competency through supervision and/or training and successful completion of annual performance evaluations.
  • Attends continuing education seminars and in services as necessary to maintain professional licensure, competency, and satisfy hospital required education standards.
  • Provides training of staff on various issues and topics relevant to the specific patient population.
