About The Position

As a Lead Clinical Social Worker at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. The Lead Clinical Social Worker functions as a clinical leader and supervisor within a designated unit(s). In addition, they assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients/clients and directs care to these patients/clients via the development of the treatment approach including specific discipline interventions. They will ensure that appropriate level of care is determined and confer with the family referral source and the insurance company as to the status of the patient throughout treatment. Requirements

  • Master’s degree required in social work or psychology.
  • For Substance Abuse programs: A Master’s degree required in behavioral health sciences and two years post graduate work in substance use disorder treatment. Additional experience of two years post graduate mental health work preferred.
  • Must hold current licensure (Master’s Prepared only) in the field of social work, psychology or nursing.
  • Three years mental health experience, to be able to independently assess patient’s needs and to implement and evaluate effective plans of care and acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and prioritizes patient/client treatment needs including discharge needs.
  • Implements plan of care and collaborates with the clinical team to assure a uniform plan of care.
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy or interventions; psychosocial assessment, including assessment of co-occurring disorders.
  • Provides input to the interdisciplinary treatment plan, functioning as a team member.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationship with assigned patients/clients including engaging, deescalating, screening, and managing crises.
  • Serves as a liaison between community resources, family, patient/client, and hospital- or clinic-based providers of care.
  • Assures appropriate length of stay based on continual reassessment of patient’s/client’s progress towards goals.
  • Responsible to monitor for and report to the manager, attending physician, or appropriate team leader any potential risk to patient safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
  • Responsible to document and report all necessary information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes processes to conserve financial resources.
  • Creates a customer/client friendly environment by following quality improvement standards, maintaining professionalism, initiating and maintaining positive relationships with departments, co-workers and external customers.
  • Collaborates with manager regarding internship needs and other departmental activities.
  • Works in various clinical settings with diverse patient/client populations with complex needs.
  • Promotes positive communication between staff members.
  • Acts as lead in establishing performance improvement activities and serving on committees as needed.
  • Assists manager in department performance appraisals by collecting and/or completing concurrent input forms and when appropriate writing the appraisals.
  • Takes an active role in the training needs of staff in orientation, competency assessment and in identifying ongoing training needs of staff.
  • Responsible to role model the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image that is projected in appearance, attitudes and behaviors, time management and communication skills.
  • Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical support to patients.
  • Commitment to demonstrating the Hospital and Residential Services Model of Care.
  • Responsible to uphold the healing ministry of Christ through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity and professional excellence.
  • May supervise Clinical Social Workers.
  • Plays a leadership role in program development.
  • Functions as a clinical leader, delegating/coordinating clinical social worker staff assignments within units, problem solving and promoting staff development.
  • Collaborates in follow up with disciplinary action.
