About The Position

The Clinical Social Worker 3 (LCSW) primary responsibilities are psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, brief therapeutic interventions, consultation, education, community linkages, supportive services, and to facilitate the plan of care through the health care continuum for patients, families, and staff, with particular focus on high-risk populations. The CSW 3 acts as a consultant to the clinical team, service lines and other departments and participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives. The CSW 3 will conduct legal and ethical billing for services when applicable and appropriate. The CSW 3 will primarily practice at the Claremont FQHC location (Primary Care/TEEN) but also be available to the School-Based FQHC sites and FQHC Mobile Clinic as needed. The Clinical Social Worker 3 will provide therapeutic support to patients and their families followed by UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital – Oakland. The CSW 3 coordinates resources and services in response to a patient’s psychosocial needs while collaborating with care team members to support timely and safe discharges and/or meet the continuum of care needs as best as possible with available resources The CSW 3 will practice within the scope of UCSF’s mission statement: Caring, Healing, Teaching, Discovering; and the values statement of UCSF’s Everyday PRIDE: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence. The CSW 3 will participate in department education and practice improvement activities. The CSW III has advanced clinical knowledge and skills and is distinguished from the CSW II by leadership activities including participation in advanced program planning, provision of educational programs, clinical supervision, and consultation to the clinical team, other departments, and the community. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $45.20 - $78.06 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Masters degree from a CSWE accredited school of Social Work.
  • Experience (internship/career) in a healthcare and/or hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position, including knowledge of relevant community resources commensurate with illness, symptoms, mental status, and impairments in functioning and knowledge of the medical and psychological sequelae of course of illness and impact on social functioning (may be specific to patient population).
  • Experience in crisis de-escalation and trauma informed care.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, effective written and oral communication, diplomacy, and organizational and analytic skills.
  • Self-directed, assertive and creative in problem solving, systems planning and patient care management in a high-volume work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Basic pager, telephone, and computer skills including the use of the internet.
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

  • Licensed in Clinical Social Work in the state of California/Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Three years of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • The CSW III has advanced clinical knowledge and skills and is distinguished from the CSW II by leadership activities including participation in advanced program planning, provision of educational programs, clinical supervision, consultation to the clinical team, other departments, and the community.
  • Current California State License of Clinical Social Work in good standing.
  • Licensed in Clinical Social Work in the state of California/Board of Behavioral Sciences (for CSWIII).

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients, preferred.
  • Second language, Spanish.
