Explore the potential of your pharmacy experience in an elevated role. We are recruiting a Lead Clinical Pharmacist to join our team of health care professionals. As a Lead Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for all the duties of a Clinical Pharmacist as needed to ensure adequate staffing and complete patient care. Duties include high level patient and provider interaction, pharmacist verification of prescriptions, and documentation of current and future clinical interventions. The Lead Clinical Pharmacist may supervise the activities of pharmacy support personnel, as well as lead and participate in quality control and performance improvement activities and committees. Provides leadership, supervision, and direction to the clinical pharmacist team to support pharmacy operations, clinical services, and shows a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

Education and experience Required: Degree from college of pharmacy
Oregon licensed pharmacist in good standing
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be able to express oneself, detect, perceive, observe, and assess information exchanged in a variety of communication methods.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft programs and pharmacy software.
Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Maintains continuing education requirements.

Nice To Haves

Preferred: Four to six years’ pharmacy related work experience or equivalent
One or more years' related experience working in a specialty pharmacy
One or more years’ experience in leading a team
Certification in Specialty Pharmacy and/or relevant specialty certifications
Experience in successful completion of clinical or operational projects
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively collaborate in a team setting.
Proficiency in standard workplace software and/or information management applications.
Prior experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
Ability to navigate computer applications.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of pharmacy benefit investigation, prior authorization support, and patient financial assistance connection.
Prior experience working with physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

Performs all clinical pharmacist duties with a high level of accuracy and efficiency, including but not limited to prescription verification, patient counseling, and provider outreach.
Provides leadership and guidance to the clinical pharmacist and pharmacy technician teams; triaging issues and supporting decision-making to maintain efficient operations and workflow.
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of company policies, procedures, and best practices.
Remains dependable and maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
Maintains patient safety as a top priority.
Assists in the management of the clinical pharmacist team through orientation, training, scheduling, huddle planning, and performance reviews using performance metrics.
Directs activities of all departments related to pharmacy operations as appropriate.
Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy student interns and pharmacist residents.
Obtains pharmacist licensure in other states as requested to meet business needs.
Stays knowledgeable on current clinical issues, industry practice standards, and accreditation standards, and incorporates them into daily practice.
Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for Ardon’s core pharmacy applications, working closely with business systems analysts to improve cover system functionality, test releases, and guide clinical analysis of system issues.
Helps to lead the development, management and improvement of clinical programs, assessments, and educational materials.
Leads quality improvement, drug, and disease state workgroups and committees as requested.
Assesses new inventory additions, including clinical, operational, and risk reviews.
Creates and maintains medication inventory files following ISMP recommendations and company protocols.
Responds to internal and external requests for information from patients, providers, payers.
Maintains appropriate clinical and non-clinical documentation with adequate detail to enhance patient care and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
Coordinates and conducts internal training on new medications, programs, and clinical updates as required.
Actively participates and provides direction in the organization’s accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
Performs audits and quality control checks to ensure proper security and drug storage and handling in alignment with policies, procedures, and laws.
Adheres to all state, federal, and local laws pertaining to drug dispensing and patient information.
Supports Pharmacist-In-Charge to ensure operational adherence to all applicable state, federal and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
Assists in the development of effective and efficient operational processes to support quality improvement, accreditation standards, and company initiatives.
Maintains active Oregon pharmacist license.
Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status.
Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence address, or mailing address, email, phone, or employment.
Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts.
Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
