Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with three years broad based acute care nursing experience.
  • Associate degree in nursing including an additional five years’ experience in a revenue cycle related position.
  • Valid Kentucky Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • 3 years broad based acute care nursing experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and a basic understanding of coding and payment methodologies including DRG and APC.
  • Individuals working with payor audits must have a keen understanding of audit response requirements and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership on a daily basis to Charge Capture staff including mentoring employees, educating employees on new policies or payor guidelines, orienting new employees and other duties as assigned by the Director of Charge Capture.
  • Provides support to all processes within Charge Capture including but not limited to scheduled/routine audits, payor audits, audits following billing edits or errors, and audits following denials or payment variances.
  • Performs human resources functions typical of a lead within Baptist Health including reviewing and editing payroll, evaluating employees, assuring employee compliance with mandatory education and employee health requirements, and reviewing productivity and peer review results with employees.
  • Supports the monitoring of productivity, error rates, delayed claims, and key performance indicators to identify performance gaps. Collaborates to develop and implement effective mechanisms to address these opportunities.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and incorporates staff feedback to improve operations.
  • Provides ongoing education to promote compliant charging and coding practices.
  • Constantly works with Charge Capture staff to identify opportunities for more efficient workflow. Communicates process improvement opportunities to Director and offers suggestions to address these opportunities. Collaborates with Director to develop and implement effective mechanisms for process improvement.
