About The Position

The Lead Cashier is responsible for managing front-end operations during their assigned shift, ensuring efficient Customer flow and excellent service at all checkout lanes. This role supervises cashiers, assistants, and baggers, delegating tasks to maintain productivity and service standards. The Lead Cashier focuses on shift-level execution, ensuring lanes are properly staffed, wait times are minimized, and all Customer needs are met. This role works closely with the Front End Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader, reporting shift performance and any issues requiring follow-up.

Requirements

  • Prior retail, grocery, or hospitality experience; leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of cashiering, cash handling, and Customer Service best practices.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to motivate and direct Team Members during a busy shift.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all front-end operations during assigned shifts.
  • Delegate tasks to cashiers, assistants, and baggers to ensure productivity and service goals are met.
  • Monitor checkout lanes to ensure proper staffing and minimal wait times.
  • Assist with complex or escalated transactions and Customer concerns.
  • Ensure all cash handling and register procedures are followed accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and Customer-ready front-end environment.
  • Communicate shift performance, staffing notes, and operational updates to the Front End Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader.
  • Support training by modeling best practices and reinforcing service standards.
  • Uphold Plum Market’s policies, procedures, and safety standards.
