About The Position

The Grocery Assistant Manager supports the day-to-day operations and success of the Grocery department at Plum Market. This role works closely with the Grocery Team Leader to manage inventory, merchandising, product rotation, and team development. The Assistant Manager helps ensure the department is clean, full, organized, and Customer-ready always. In the absence of the Team Leader, this position assumes additional responsibilities to maintain departmental consistency and performance.

Requirements

  • Experience in grocery operations or a related retail environment.
  • Familiarity with product receiving, stocking, rotation, and merchandising best practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Apps and the ability to adapt and learn new software solutions.
  • Ability to assist in managing order guides, inventory records, and store documentation.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break – we work on the floor and alongside our team.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Grocery Team Leader in ordering, receiving, and managing department inventory.
  • Assist with merchandising, stock rotation, backroom organization, and shelf maintenance.
  • Help train and coach Team Members on department tasks, standards, and Customer interaction.
  • Monitor department appearance, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and product tags across all grocery areas.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to Customers and ensure their needs are met promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with Team Members, Store Leadership, and the Support Team.
  • Uphold all Plum Market policies, safety protocols, and operational standards.
