About The Position

Position Summary: In compliance with ORR Policy & Procedures, identify and process potential sponsors and expedite reunification for Unaccompanied Children; obtain required documentation; and ensure timely and accurate maintenance of official records. In addition to performing duties of the position, Lead Individual provides supervision to assigned program staff including but not limited to: hiring, training, weekly supervision, completing chart audits, and performance documentation to ensure continuity of care and accountability of services.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services field.
  • Two Years of child welfare and/or case management experience required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to facilitate interviews, build trust, and ensure cooperation.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and maintain required certifications and training including, but not limited to, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR, and other evidence- informed practices.
  • Must be computer-literate and be able to understand and effectively use electronic health record/billing systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquires, maintains, teaches and demonstrates knowledge of Prevention of Sexual Abuse (PSA) and Sexual Harassment standards at care provider facilities, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed care and maintains a professional environment that is consistent with Title 22, licensing regulations, and established agency policies.
  • Assess needs of children and adolescents in care and develops Individual Service Plans.
  • Establish rapport with Unaccompanied Children, as well as their potential sponsors and screens for human trafficking concerns.
  • Facilitates timely release or discharge of children and youth including following detail federal policy and making critical decision to ensure a safe discharge
  • Documents the provision of services in case files including crucial legal documentation that can affect the legal status of the child and youth.
  • Manage logistics such as obtaining required documents, assembling records, entering records into electronic database including documentation of crucial legal and data elements utilized by the Federal government.
  • Attend weekly Case Review meetings with Federal/ Office of Refugee Resettlement personnel to communicate specific details of cases to ensure timely and safely release of all children and youth.
  • Act as the hub of coordination and communication with all internal departments to ensure all medical, mental health, education, recreation, and daily living needs are met.
  • Chaperone fly-outs (i.e. accompany youth to sponsor’s custody including air travel)
  • Follow complex instructions that change frequently.
  • Sets clear, measurable and specific goals for assigned staff and meets weekly for review.
  • Provides specific performance feedback to staff, both positive and corrective, as soon as possible after event or action.
  • Oversees written evaluations, submitted evaluations and any rate change submissions for approval. Presents evaluation to staff.
  • Maintains a professional environment that is consistent with existing contracts, licensing regulations, and established agency policies.
