About The Position

Adventist HealthCare’s Shady Grove Medical Center is hiring a Lead Behavioral Health Therapist for our Behavioral Health Department in Rockville, MD. Qualified candidates will be eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus. (Current AHC employees not eligible – see below under additional details.) Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Lead Behavioral Health Therapist for our Behavioral Health Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Lead Behavioral Health Therapist you will: Initiates and implements complete, comprehensive psychosocial assessments Provides individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families Participates in and interdisciplinary treatment team to propose and develop strategies and interventions that would promote excellent therapeutic outcomes Assesses and intervenes in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues Documents services provided and disseminates information/reports to community referral sources and agencies, i.e., DJJ, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC, etc Coordinates with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources aftercare and supportive services to ensure a successful discharge planning process. Promotes positive patient-family-community relations. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety an stability Supervises LGPC/LGSW psychotherapeutic treatment of patients and their families including individual therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy. Supervises LGPC/LGSW documentation, including maintenance of charts in a complete, timely and legible form, including parent information forms, consent forms, data collection forms, progress notes, and treatment plans and goals as required by state DHMH Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work/Counseling or equivalent Master’s Degree in a recognized health field
  • 2-5 years’ experience preferred
  • LCSW-C/LCPC in the State of Maryland
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory Credential assigned by the State Board of Social Workers or the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors preferred.
