The Cambria Hotel in Detroit is expanding and looking for a Banquet Lead to join our team! Job Summary: The Banquet Lead supervises all banquet events at the Cambria Detroit hotel. As the Banquet Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring that banquet operations run smoothly and prioritizing the comfort and safety of our guests.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a banquet captain or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews event orders (BEOs) prior to service to understand timelines, menus, room setup, and special requirements.
  • Ensures event spaces are properly set, stocked, and guest-ready according to BEO standards.
  • Monitors the pacing of food and beverage service to ensure alignment with event timeline.
  • Communicates with the kitchen on course timing, dietary needs, last-minute changes, or issues.
  • Coordinates with fellow servers to divide tasks and maintain smooth service transitions.
  • Acts as the guest-facing point person for basic event questions or requests during service.
  • Identifies and escalates any issues to the manager on duty when necessary.
  • Performs full banquet server duties including greeting guests, taking beverage orders, serving plated or buffet meals, clearing tables, and resetting as needed.
  • Assists with bar service or beverage stations when required.
  • Ensures all side duties are completed such as stocking, polishing, and maintaining clean work areas.
  • Guides coworkers on event flow, sequence of service, and expectations for the shift.
  • Confirms breakdown and reset tasks are completed according to hotel standards.
  • Verifies that equipment is returned, linens bagged, and all materials are properly stored.
  • Completes basic post-event documentation (if required), such as noting special issues or lost items.
  • Ensures the banquet space is left clean, secure, and ready for the next event.
