Be a part of something special! NASA SEWP is seeking an Automated Test Engineer to join our collaborative QA team in ensuring the quality of enterprise web applications supporting NASA operations. This role emphasizes partnership with developers, business analysts, and QA team to design and implement automated testing solutions that accelerate release cycles while maintaining high-quality standards. Working in an Agile environment, you'll contribute to test automation strategy, develop and maintain test scripts using industry-standard tools (Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit), support 508 accessibility compliance efforts, and help drive continuous improvement in testing practices. Leading a team of software testers towards delivering high-quality releases for Java web applications. This position offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to mission-critical systems while working with experienced professionals in a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Required: Minimum 7 years of testing Spring-based (Java) web applications
  • Required: Minimum 1 year team lead for 2 or more team members
  • Required: Experience with automated testing tools (Cucumber, Selenium, SortSite WAVE)
  • Required: Experience with Agile Development and Continuous Integration
  • Required: Minimum 2 years of experience working with SQL Server or Oracle databases
  • Required: Minimum 1 year React/Angular proficiency
  • US Citizen or permanent residency, with ability to obtain a security clearance of Public Trust
  • Must work On-site a minimum of three (3) days per week.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Experience with JBoss, Maven, Git and Java Spring Software Development Process Model knowledge
  • Preferred: Section 508 Trusted Tester certification
  • Preferred: Experience with Jenkins or Hudson

Responsibilities

  • Drive software quality assurance lifecycles within the Agile Development process.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of highly scalable enterprise applications written in Java Spring boot (back-end) and React (Front-end)
  • Mentor and instruct QA team members, helping them make decisions and solve problems.
  • Plan and lead end-to-end integration testing in collaboration with Software Development team and other internal stakeholders
  • Help achieve goal of 80% code coverage for automated testing
  • Manage meetings, set goals, provide feedback on testing tasks, and delegate testing responsibilities.
  • Document and update test plans and produce test summary reports for each software release
  • Provide guidance on unit testing tools and frameworks for Java and React (JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, Jest, Jasmine, Karma)
  • Adapt and contribute to a fast-paced and agile application development environment, adhering to project schedules, and proactively resolve or escalate issues to management
  • Participate in the maintenance and deployment of projects, providing support outside normal core business hours or nights and weekends
