About The Position

This position is responsible for: Assists the After School Program Coordinator in the daily operations of the youth programs and supports community center meetings and special events. Serves as the lead worker to Program Aides in the absence of the After School Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E. D.
  • Two (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church or school, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certification
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Duties are performed in a classroom, gym, and outdoor settings.
  • Sitting, walking, and standing are required.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
  • Work requires working indoors and outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead worker to Program Aides in the absence of the After School Program Coordinator.
  • Assists in training new staff on applicable policies and procedures.
  • Handles emergencies and escalated customer service-related issues.
  • Assists with the supervision of children participating in activities provided.
  • Assists in opening and closing the Community Center according to established procedures.
  • Remains on site during rentals and programs to monitor facility use and ensure compliance with established policies and agreements.
  • Supports the coordination and scheduling of special events and programs.
  • Provides constant care of the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children’s safety in utilizing the same.
