If you have questions about other considerations, please don't hesitate to contact us! The Accounting Assistant directly supports the finance functions of PCS. The Accounting Assistant will work within the finance team as an integral position to complete the full cycle of accounting. The position will support the Senior Accountant by completing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting activities during audits. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office and community environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. In addition, familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and any additional programs or equipment used to execute specific tasks as required for the role. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb are a requirement for this job. An employee must possess the ability to crawl, crouch, kneel, and stoop while performing job functions. Employees are required to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds during the workday. Workers must be able to use their hands and arms for gross and fine -motor activities throughout the workday. Gross-motor activities include, but are not limited to, picking, pinching, and touching. Fine-motor activities include, but are not limited to, seizing, holding, grasping, and turning. Employees are required to be able to use fine and gross-motor skills concurrently. In addition, employees are required to work around individuals in the community where unfamiliar people are present, and movement may be restricted. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred, or 5+ years of relevant experience
  • General Ledger, Account Reconciliation experience required
  • Experience with intercompany accounting and Due To / From accounts
  • Non-profit accounting and budgeting experience preferred
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus, but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel, One Drive, and SharePoint
  • Advanced Excel skills including, but not limited to, data analysis, automation, and reporting
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop)
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • General knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Communicates effectively – ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Manages time effectively – tracks multiple deadlines and assures information is available to Senior Accountant when needed
  • Works Independently – ability to complete tasks with little oversight, anticipate needs based on monthly close, year-end, and other deadlines as they arise
  • Optimizes work processes – ability to recognize inefficient work processes, analyze processes, and find solutions to implement efficient and effective changes to improve finance department workflow
  • Plans and aligns – ability to plan for the big picture that aligns with agency goals as a whole, focusing on final desired result and steps necessary to achieve results. Can adjust plans accordingly when roadblocks appear or goals shift
  • Interpersonal Savvy – builds collaborative relationships throughout the agency necessary for successful finance team
  • Ability to manage large volumes of transactional data efficiently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance with dependable means of transportation. Maintaining a safe driving record and self-awareness for safety purposes.
