About The Position

Leads and directs an assigned crew in performing maintenance functions, including servicing and repairing aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness according to customer specifications and FAA standards. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their trade and mentors junior aircraft mechanics through On-the-Job-Training (OJT). Reads and complies with instructions and safety information for the proper and safe completion of assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years in aircraft maintenance, demonstrating knowledge of techniques, terminology, and parts.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License in good standing preferred or documented eligibility for FAA repairman’s certificate or A&P application.
  • Proficient in Flightstar’s ERP system (AMROS), vending systems (POU), and customer maintenance manual research.
  • Adheres to safety rules and regulations.
  • Reports unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Takes actions to prevent unsafe practices.
  • Supports Flightstar’s SMS safety culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 91/121/145 is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the crew in performing maintenance functions, including servicing and repairing aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness per customer specifications and FAA standards.
  • Ensure proper execution of parts tagging (repairable, serviceable, or condemned) and accurate routing of tagged parts or components to the appropriate location per Flightstar’s standard operating procedures.
  • Confirm work scope identification and availability of all necessary FAA-approved technical data.
  • Collaborate with Production Control to assign planned work effectively, maximizing crew productivity, and monitor work performance consistently.
  • Maintain accountability for the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of personal and crew assignments.
  • Provide on-the-job training regarding aircraft maintenance, standard operating procedures, and safety standards.
  • Review non-routine work cards to identify actions promptly, accurately identify necessary resources, and estimate maintenance tasks with precision.
  • Monitor and control the flow and completion of work documents within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work hours to support smooth shift turnovers as required.
  • Communicate with customer representatives to ensure approval for original, additional, or revised work estimates.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as removing and installing aircraft engines, adjusting secondary systems, and other licensed mechanic duties as necessary.
  • Use technical manuals to locate components and implement maintenance instructions accurately.
  • Address discrepancies effectively and ensure procedures follow manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment to perform skilled manual and technical tasks as instructed.
  • Handle tools, parts, and materials; use ladders and platforms; and work in various physical positions, including stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Maintain working knowledge of ATA Codes, aircraft zones, airframe familiarization, and industry standards.
  • Read instructions and safety information thoroughly for the proper completion of tasks.
  • Document work orders, logs, and other records as required.
  • Utilize Flightstar’s integrated operating systems (AMROS) for part location, alternate part numbers, and parts/tool requests.
  • Stay current on all required regulatory and customer training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
