About The Position

Paratransit, Inc. is currently seeking applications for full-time Bus Mechanics to perform maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with occasional shifts starting as early as 5:30 AM for training or as needed. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Mechanic C (Entry-Level): ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience Performs routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment Works under close supervision, assisting with inspections and repairs Responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities

Requirements

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire
  • ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience
  • Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
  • Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)
  • Successful applicants must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States in accordance with Department of Homeland Security regulations.
  • If a job offer is made, pre-employment drug testing (including marijuana) and a post-job offer physical are required.
  • All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of the above requirements and the ability to provide the required documents to prove eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus
  • Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices
