About The Position

Job Summary Provide leadership and direction to the Design Engineering staff in line with the organizations vision and values. Develops departmental plans to achieve short term and long range goals. Provide guidance and support to staff to ensure professional development and to accomplish department objectives. Build and develop strategic internal/external relationships to help achieve department objectives. Facilitate and encourage the improvement of existing processes, policies and procedures. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the staff to ensure the completion of goals and department objectives. Collaborate with peers within NiSource to ensure effective solutions. Candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Canonsburg, PA, Chester, VA, or another NiSource service territory in Pennsylvania or Virginia, or be willing to relocate to one of these locations. Essential Functions Communicates key messages regarding the organizations vision and values Establishes implementation plans for Design Engineering objectives and goals Identifies and explores opportunities to develop or improve internal/external partnerships Identifies areas for departmental improvements and develops plans to achieve them Develop and execute the annual capital program Develop methods to measure the performance of the engineering department that are linked with NiSource business goals Identify development opportunities for engineering leadership team Develop strategic long-range facility plans Partner with Field Operations, and Compliance to meet state and federal operating codes Partner with appropriate stakeholders to ensure the exceptional delivery of support services Make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, advancement and promotion of Design Engineer 1,2, and 3

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 5 years operations experience in Regulation, Measurement, Electronic Measurement or Operations Engineering
  • Knowledge & experience of measurement & regulation equipment operation and design
  • Knowledge & experience of transmission pipeline operations and design
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in operations department in a technical function
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures relative to operations
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and compliance issues
  • Familiarity with common computer applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with company budgeting processes and systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge & experience in system design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes and standard
  • Ability to comprehend and translate technical papers and standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas operations in land rights interpretation, contracts and construction
  • Understanding of statistical principles and their applications
  • Working knowledge of NiSource policies, procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of gas utility infrastructure
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations
  • Highly skilled in the use of Auto Cad, Excel, & design support systems (e.g. Technical Toolbox, Gas Calc)
  • Skilled with Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate cost saving principals in daily operations
  • Demonstrated competency in budget origination, management and forecasting
  • Understanding of gas supply function & policies and interstate pipeline contracts
  • Understanding of service & tariff conditions to large industrial & commercial transportation customers
  • Thorough knowledge of NiSource compliance and safety issues
  • Proficiency in budgeting and forecasting
  • Candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Canonsburg, PA, Chester, VA, or another NiSource service territory in Pennsylvania or Virginia, or be willing to relocate to one of these locations.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business or Engineering
  • Engineering and Operations proficiency gained through previous experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Professional Engineering License in multiple states included in the NiSource operating territory Upon Hire
