The Manager for Life Cycle Management position is accountable, from starting materials to customer, for the management of all supply chain activities and resources that are needed for cost-efficient tech transfer, global launch, supply sustainability of new products and existing product lines. Typically leads multiple global projects of medium to high complexity, significant business impact, and under general guidance of the supervisor. This Position is entrusted with the overall stewardship and accountability for assigned commercially marketed products and/or compounds within a specific business group or product portfolio, and for oversight of all aspects of product strategy, supply chain management, and inventory management for the assigned portfolio. Product portfolio will typically consist of a larger number of mature products, medium total sales, with a medium to high impact of a potential recall or stock out. Products are typically manufactured on existing stable production platforms and are usually not part of a licensing or other alliance agreement. This position is accountable for the flawless transfer of new products and processes from R&D or other transferring partners into the Supply Chain (J&J or external) and the launch of products into regional or global commercial markets, including post-launch supply continuity, for products of medium to high impact and under direction of the Mentor Franchise Product Manager.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Operations.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in Operations within New Product Development, Quality, and/or Manufacturing, Supply and Logistic with significant project and leadership accountabilities.
  • Technical support to Manufacturing Business Units for complex process issues, where higher level of technical expertise in a given field of knowledge is required.
  • Must have demonstrated successful completion of developing and leading several technical and/or business challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional/multi discipline team.
  • Position will be required to manage costs and budgets.
  • Must be customer focused with a good understanding of our customer and commercial stakeholder needs.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Statistical Analysis Software.
  • Demonstrated track record of Project Management.
  • Must have advanced proficiency with written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple commitments and technical problem-solving duties.
  • Ability to shift priorities according to changes in department/facility needs and open to different ideas/approaches.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA.
  • Experience in a New Product Development project.
  • Experience in the Medical Device or Diagnostics industry.
  • Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare regulated industry Quality Systems and Change Control procedures.
  • Six Sigma/Process Excellence and/or Design Excellence experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages global, cross-functional team effectively.
  • Provides structure, direction and decision making to the team.
  • With oversight and input, defines actions that need to be taken to achieve project objectives.
  • Collaborates effectively with key business partners.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.
  • LCM Manager supports the Supply Chain for assigned products and, in collaboration with the Life Cycle Management Leadership, contributes to business strategy and targets to achieve financial and business results, and contributes to and implements product strategies.
  • Supports project work as well as end-to-end cost and inventory optimization for assigned products, across the product lifecycle.
  • Works with strategic marketing, regulatory, development and supply chain technical groups to ensure readiness to react to market / customer requirements and deliver on product life cycle innovations.
  • Originates and obtains approval for new projects.
  • Manages the project portfolio, provides support to life cycle projects and all related changes.
  • Needs to be able to manage projects with medium to high business impact.
  • Improve the competitiveness of the assigned products through alignment with P&L targets and active project portfolio management under guidance from Life Cycle Management.
  • Liaise with R&D for life cycle projects.
  • Monitor progress of technical project portfolio to determine impact of planned events on supply chain.
  • Contribute to and monitor overall supply chain strategy, policies, and performance for assigned products to ensure global targets are aligned with the Supply Chain business plan in collaboration with the business group or product portfolio Head.
  • Demonstrate independent understanding and application of core GMP fundamentals, including but not limited to: Data Integrity (DI), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
