About The Position

The LBHC- Unlicensed Masters Level Therapist is responsible for ensuring the emotional and social needs of our adolescent and adult patients are met and maintained on an individual basis in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The PLPC will provide services designed to meet the mental health and/or substance use needs of patients.

Requirements

  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and national criminal background check analysis.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to engage with various patient populations.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the workplace.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaborate with peers, other professionals, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Master's Degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited institution recognized by the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients and families in care planning, focusing on patients' behavioral, clinical, social, and environmental concerns and needs.
  • Apply counseling theory, knowledge, methods, ethics, and the professional use of self in counseling practice, including assessment, planning, intervention, counseling, evaluation, and case management.
  • Conduct psychotherapy and other clinical services under the supervision of an experienced, licensed, and credentialed behavioral health professional using individual, family, and group methods while respecting patient preferences.
  • Provide direct care management to high-risk populations and provide clinical consultation to other members of the care team. Work cooperatively with clinical staff, individuals, and families to meet care plan goals.
  • Foster and enhance optimal patient functioning.
  • Continually assess patient needs, service availability, and appropriateness of treatment plan.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive inventory of local community resources, improving accessibility for patients and providers, and linking patients with the appropriate support services.
  • Provide the collaborative documentation for service delivery, including treatment goals, progress notes, and billing, and submit authorizations in accordance with necessary standards.
  • Promote positive interdepartmental cooperation. Participates in appropriate committees or task forces and demonstrates the ability to identify and resolve complex or novel problems.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Assist patients, family members, or other clients with concern and empathy. Respect confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquires to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated.

  • Take responsibility for helping the patient.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new care team members.
  • Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with the care team.
  • Assist others in the performance of their assignments.

  • Take direction and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties wherever volume deems it necessary within CCWV.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
  • Investigate and follow through on possible documentation errors or requests for service or information.
  • Follow proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents and/or incidents.
  • Record and report the need for service, maintenance, or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from service.
  • Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet patient expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to flexibly respond to change and meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
  • Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the department's future needs.
  • Organize job functions and work areas to be able to complete varied assignments within established time frames effectively.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to take the initiative to make decisions/choices without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and the ability to reference them from appropriate books and manuals.
  • Comply with the CCWV's infection control policies and procedures, including the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
