About The Position

At Lucchese Bootmaker, we are committed to craftsmanship, precision, and quality. The Lay Piping Operator is responsible for positioning, cutting, and securing piping onto the upper quarters of the boot. This role requires detailed leather handling skills, accuracy in measurement and alignment, and the ability to meet production targets while maintaining the highest quality standards. The Lay piping poison is responsible for selecting the piping material and cutting to precise lengths and is shaped to fit the upper quarters of the boot. This process includes Alignment and placement, strong attention to Aesthetic detail. Piping contrast in many different colors of leather to accentuate the boots design. Attention to smoothness, uniformity, and perfect finish for Visual appeal.

Requirements

  • Strong visuals to inspect detailed piping work.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow production tickets and work orders accurately.
  • Working knowledge of upper piping techniques and leather handling processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet daily production quotas while maintaining quality standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime as production demands require.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in boot manufacturing or leather goods production required.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve production boxes from rail system.
  • Review and interpret production tickets to confirm correct piping color and specifications.
  • Position piping components properly onto the upper Quarters of the boot.
  • Use a skiving knife to cut leather piping into exact lengths to match upper quarter dimensions.
  • Inspect the piping to properly ensure alignment and placement with no defects.
  • Return completed pairs to the production box and place onto rails for the next operation.
  • Apply adhesive glue to piping components as required for production.
  • Maintain workstation cleanliness and organization.
  • Follow all safety guidelines
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
